COVID-19 and various other early 2020 stresses put me into a mindset of "what next"?

Part way through the year, I came across this poem and wondered if the crises were my problem or if perhaps my attitude toward the problem was the problem.

I started thinking of the challenges as opportunities to think differently. I felt more peaceful and didn't react the same way to circumstances. I paused and considered responses instead.

Participation in this program has shaped my work habits, improved my understanding of both coding and business soft skills, and helped me think about my future in a fresh way. LinkedIn Learning provided an excellent curriculum: every module was high quality and useful. The structure of learning created a great atmosphere for practice and taught me how to use many software tools.

The professional and approachable presence of the gener8or team (especially Cole's great leadership), Jason my Technical Coach, my excellent Career Coach Claire, support from The Mill especially Melissa, guest speakers at Lunch and Learns, and mock interviews have taught me more than what I hoped for.

My gratitude also extends to The City of Bloomington and the Recover Forward initiative. Thank you for your investment in our cohort.

After graduation, I will continue to work with seven local companies in their online presence while seeking either a full time position or a part time job that can fill up my workweek. I am investing in The Mill with a part time membership and will be watching for a way to give back as a Code School alumna.

For many people, COVID-19 stole a year or more. It gave me motivation to look for a new direction in my personal and professional life. It cleared me "out for some new delight".
